‘Local destination’ weddings are such a thrill for me!! Summers are always so chaotic and busy, that while I love being home in Victoria to enjoy our beautiful summers, creating gorgeous florals for my clients… There are a lot of fun ‘summer events’ that I don’t get to partake in due the workload.
But hey – I LOVE what I do – so I re-live the stories of great summer escapades through my friends and family upon their return.
Needless to say – when I was asked to create wedding flowers for some great friends on a gorgeous August weekend in Kelowna, BC last summer – I was stoked!
The best of all worlds possible! A chance to travel the province, create some prettyness, as well as spend some good quality time with friends and family in beautiful ‘Wine Country BC’.
I love this couple – they are just incredible incredible people – (both the Bride and Groom have seriously cool jobs, so we are going to just keep this one anonymous)… I will only tease you with a few sneak peeks of the girls from this gorgeous day on the lake.
I had to share some pics because – seriously – this beautiful bride and her lovely ladies (all her sisters and best friend)… they are all stunners!
Now creating flowers ‘away from home’ is a whole other feat all on it’s own. I’m lucky to have the support and superman powers of my awesome floral wholesaler Paul. He organized the delivery of all the fresh products for me to Kelowna, everything was stunning and ready to go, awaiting my arrival from a delayed flight out of Victoria… (Oh yeah my history in travel luck is brutal! But that’s a whole other conversation…)
The venue spaces picked for this wedding were complete classics… The Benvoulin Heritage Church is pretty much the cutest little church I’ve laid eyes on (extra cool because other members of the Bride’s family have been married here as well!), and the Hotel Eldorado at Okanagan Lake is a true gem with so much history. Kelowna is such a great town with a fun vibe of good times, summer lovin’ & celebrations!
‘The Meaning of Flowers’ – I truly believe that the flowers a woman chooses to carry on her wedding day reflect her values in life, love and the future she is creating – (even if this is done subconsciously). We are all drawn to certain flowers and colours – it’s what makes us all unique….
Here are the flowers and their meanings for this stunning bride’s bouquet:
Pale Pink Rose ♥ Grace
Pale Peach Rose ♥ Gratitude
Wax Flower ♥ Riches
Scabiosa ♥ Admiration
Dahlia ♥ Dignity
Lisianthus ♥ Appreciation
Eryngium ♥ Attraction
Lamb’s Ear ♥ Support
Eucalyptus ♥ Protection
Hydrangea ♥ Heartfelt Emotion
Hypericum ♥ Starting a New Path in Life
Ranunculus ♥ Radiant Charm
