Lindsay & Derek :: The Guild

Where do I even begin when it comes to writing a blog post for two of my favourite people on their wedding day!?

I’m sure these two will look familiar to you if you’ve ever attended a wedding or basically any fun event on Vancouver Island – (I’m still not entirely sure how they are able to be everywhere at the same time)… but yes, this is Derek & Lindsay from Four Frames Photo Booth.

This is Derek. He’s cool!

This is Lindsay (his soon to be wife at the moment this photo was taken… notice his face in the reflection of the window). She’s hilarious! This is how ‘First Looks’ look – and they’re just so full of love, I can’t hardly stand it!

I have had the pleasure of working alongside these two for the past several years, so when they asked if I would create their wedding flowers I was elated! Their wedding took place over the Thanksgiving weekend in Victoria, BC – my favourite time of year for great textural flowers and colour tones! We opted to go for something a little moody – to fit with this stylish and intimate evening gathering they had planned.

Using local products, as much as possible, the flowers consisted of Dahlias, Caramel Antike Roses, Eucalyptus, Myrtle, Plumosa, Beauty Berry, Blueberry, Amaranthus, Antique Hydrangeas, Agonis & Corokia.

Lindsay had asked me to create a bouquet to compliment her stunning black dress and custom floral fascinator. (Read more about that on the LMCM Blog HERE)

The textures in this one were fun to play with, and because her dress was a very classic, elegant, yet simple style – we could play up the textures even more!

This is the gem of a ceremony / reception venue where the photo booths were set up, family & friends gathered and vows took place. The Guild is a cool new venue space for cocktail reception style weddings in the heart of our city, if you’re on the hunt for something of this style…

Some of the details included a fabulous cake by Ruth & Dean (yum!), custom decor pieces created by the bride (ahem – that painted ceremony backdrop!!) and long floral garlands that gave a unique backdrop to their ceremony space.

It wouldn’t be a Four Frame party without a few props and photo booth opportunities!

And truly, one of my favourite things about weddings, is the people they bring together. Below is my new buddy – Arnie (Lindsay’s Uncle). He is quite the character – full of gumption and nonsense – he’s also quite the poet. (Haha, I don’t think I’ve laughed that hard in a long time!)

FLEURtacious is proud to have been a part of this amazing team involved in creating a beautiful wedding for Lindsay & Derek! Kudos to this fantastic group of vendors:

Let’s run away together, away from the city lights, where no one knows our names yet. And we can see the stars at night, we’ll camp out in the open, warming cold skin by the fire, tell each other hopes and dreams, and all of our desires. We’ll own nothing more than we need, watch sunrises colour the sky. Learn what we’re really here for, away from society’s eyes, this journey will be scary, but we’ll leave without a plan. And I know it will be alright, as long as you’re holding my hand.
E.H.

Only but the very best wishes to the Mr & Mrs!

Much Love, xo
